About EnerGREEN Home Inspection

Hi. My name is Kurt Weinberger. I am the owner of EnerGREEN Home Inspection Services.

I grew up in a construction family.  My father was an electrical contractor in both the residential and commercial marketplace.   My brothers are electrical foremen. And I did more than a few summers of of electrical work. I also owned my own renovation company doing additions, basement and bathroom renos, decks, fences, gazebos, pergolas, and pool houses.

I have received my formal and field training as a home inspector from Carson Dunlop, an engineering firm devoted exclusively to building inspections and to the training of inspectors.

I belong to two professional organizations: interNACHI and Ontario Association of Home Inspectors(OAHI).  I consequently do more than twice the continual education that many inspectors would do. I have done Ontario Building Code(OBC) courses in health and safety, the building envelope, defect recognition and report writing, I also avail myself of all local upgrades including the more recent 2011 upgrades for construction in 2012 and beyond.  This is important for new home warranty inspections both Predelivery  and under Tarion waranty work.   For any 2012 resale home I keep up to revisions for inspections.  While we are not expected to provide Code compliant inspections for all the various codes that apply to a home: electrical, plumbing, gas, Ontario Building Code parts 9, etc., we are exected to know how they apply to a Safe, Dry, Warm and GREEN home when the homes were built. The GREEN portion is especially important for homes built in 2012, and if you are planning to add or renovate to more energy efficient standards.

I am also a trained Energy Advisor under the NRCan enerGUIDE proram, an energy assessor for new homes built to the Energy Star standard and enerGUIDE 80 verification.

I serve South Central Ontario with professional and unbiased home inspections.

Why the name EnerGREEN?

I believe in the 21st century clients at a foundational level should be getting safe, dry, warm and GREEN homes as part of their value system in purchasing a home.
