Duffferin County has a population of appoximately 54,400 and covers an area of 562 sq mi (1456 sq km.)
Its administrative seat is Orangeville.
Dufferin County maintains a total of about 2600 acres of forest. It is managed on a sustainable, multi-use basis. The forest serves many important functions including erosion and water control, natural heritage protection, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, and support of the rural economy through timber production. The Count Forest Manager also organizes guided, educational walks through parts of the forest.
The Dufferin County Museum reflects the region's agricultural heritage not only in its displays but also in the style of the building. It is built in the style of a bank barn complete with a silo. The virtual tour allows you to get a sneak peak in and around the Museum. |
